(LOS ANGELES) — One person is dead and two others injured following a shooting in South Los Angeles on Monday night.
President Obama this evening honored the six people killed and at least 13 injured in a mass shooting Saturday with a call for overcoming differences — both political and personal.
“I have come here tonight as an American who, like all Americans, kneels to pray with you today, and will stand by you tomorrow,” President Obama told the “Together We Thrive: Tucson and America” memorial service at the University of Arizona’s McKale Memorial Center.
@ABC News: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords Shot at Grocery Store Event
Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head at point-blank range today outside a Tucson, Ariz., grocery store where she was holding a public event, law enforcement sources told ABC News.
Giffords, 40, was among as many as 12 people reportedly wounded in the shooting, and according to Congressional sources, several people on the Democrat’s staff were among the wounded.
She was taken to University Medical Center, where a hospital spokesman confirmed she was alive.
